OSRS Chinning Guide

Training Ranged can be a very tedious task because the damage rates are even slower than Magic. Unlike melee, you also have to use a number of consumables to train it. Despite that, ranged is the most sought-after skill in the game because of its perks in PVM as well as PVP.

Today, we’ll be talking about a shortcut for OSRS players to achieve 99 Ranged quickly. How does 250,000 XP per hour sound? Well, let’s read along to find out!

What is Chinning?

Chinning is the process of using Red or Black Chinchompas against enemies to get massive XP rates. You need to grab your chins and head over to the depths of Kruk’s dungeon. That’s where you’ll find Maniacal Monkeys to kill; however, you’ll first need to complete the Monkey Madness 2 quest.

Maniacal Monkey has low defensive stats. They tend to swarm around their enemies, allowing you to hit many at once. Using Red or Black chins on them can hit multiple targets, thus, offering better XP rates. The plan is to run around and gather as many Maniacal Monkeys as you can.

If you’re a low defense player, you’ll need to Protect from Melee prayer and Prayer Potions stacked up. You can also boost your Ranged through Ranging Potions. Besides that, you’ll also need food supplies. Lastly, what you’ll need is a Greegree so that nearby monsters don’t attack you as you navigate your way through the dungeon.

Equipment

Besides having a good Ranged level, you’ll need the following items, Zamorak Helm or Robin Hood Hat, Black Dragonhide Body or Third Age Plate, Black Dragonhide Chaps or Third Age Legs, Zamorak Shield or Guthix Book, Black Dragonhide Vambraces or Barrows’ Gloves, Ranged Boots, and Zamorak Cape, Guthix Cape, or Ava’s Accumulator.

How to get there?

You’ll start by heading to the Ape Atoll dungeon. There are several ways to get there. Teleport to Lumbridge, walk to Al-Kharid, travel to the Grand Tree, Speak to Daero and Waydar, go to the Crash Island, and then speak to Lumdo for Ape Atoll.

There’s also a teleport you can get from the Recipe of Disaster quest. Anyhow, once you’re there, head to the northwest corner of the island to find the entrance to Kruk’s dungeon. It’s nearby the Glider area and the entrance is tucked under jungle grass.

Once you’re underground, turn your run energy and protect from melee on, and then run as fast as you can towards the south-central central on the second floor.

Training

For effective chinning, you need to ensure that Maniacal Monkeys are always AGGRO towards you. The best area to stand is north of the large open tunnel area because it’s easiest to run back and forth from the southwestern safe spot to the northeastern one. It’s what you’ll be doing to keep the monkeys AGGRO towards and in front of you.

Make sure you always attack the central monkey so that the blast from the chins can scatter effectively. Another thing that you need to watch out for is the bones that drop and stack because it’ll decrease the respawn rate (number) of the monkeys. You need to pick them up and drop them somewhere else.

Conclusion

Once you get a hang of the mechanics, you can even increase the XP rates from 250k to 300k+ depending on how effectively you play. You can always watch your favorite show on a split screen while doing this as it’s pretty AFK-ISH. Anyhow, we hope you liked our guide!

Video Game of the Year 2011: Star Wars the Old Republic

This past year saw a lot of good video games. These include Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, and Assassins Creed: Revelations, and of course Skyrim. Although all of these titles were great games, the best game of 2011 would have to be Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Old Republic is an MMORPG (massive multiplayer role playing game) developed by BioWare. It includes elements that all MMOs have such as PvP and questing, but it puts a Star Wars spin on it.

There are many reasons that I would consider this game the best of the year. Many people have been waiting 4+ years since they announced development for this game to come out. As far as MMOs are concerned, this game had a great launch. While it has its bugs, the servers didn’t crash like they have in past MMO releases. BioWare did a great job on their first MMO. Many people were critical of their staggered approach to letting people into the early access but by doing it this way, people actually got to play as opposed to trying to log in and having the servers crash. This game takes a huge step forward for MMOs. The way in which you accept (or decline) quests is unique. Each quest giver has a voice over. You can pick what you say to them from three options, instead of reading the quest information. This is also the first MMO to have an alignment system of this sort. By the options you pick in these quest dialogues, you can go to the light or dark side. You can also have these dialogues in a group, which nets you social points. They also have a space combat system, similar to that of the older Battlefront games. The music in the game is everything you would expect from a Star Wars title. There are some original tracks and some that are common throughout the Star Wars Universe. If you purchased the Collector’s Edition of the game, you also received a copy of the game soundtrack.

The Old Republic has features that no other MMO has had. It has raised the bar for new MMOs. BioWare has developed a great game. The environments are everything you have come to love from Star Wars. Overall the game is great, and easily the best game to be released in 2011. People who play MMOs are picky about their games and I believe that many are satisfied with BioWare’s venture into the world of MMORPGs. With all the thing that they have added to surpass other MMOs combined with their smooth game launch, there is no question that The Old Republic is the best video game of 2011.

World of Warcraft: An Overview to the Rogue Specs and How to Equip for Each

Rogues are extremely popular in World of Warcraft, the primary reason being because they’re such a fun PvP class. They’re awesome because the get the immediate advantage over all other players in the arena by having the ability to stealth before they can even become attacked. Of course, then they can make some very powerful attacks from the stealth position.

The way you use your rogue’s abilities is going to depend on a few things; but primarily his spec and weapons. Rogues can fight in a few different styles, and it’s going to be dependent on the abilities you can use with the weapons you have.

If you decide to go assasination spec, you’re most likely going to want to get the mutilate abiliity, and this will become your “main” ability. You’re also going to want to spec in your stun and poison abilities, so that you’re going to be able to stun your opponet more often and do more damage while they are stunned. In order to use the mutilate ability, you must be behind your opponet. The best way to do this is to keep them stun locked while in combat with them for as long as possible. if you have your poison proc rate increased, your damage from mutilate will also increase dramatically, since there is a 50% bonus if used on an opponet with poisons applied. I recommend using either deadly or crippling poison; deadly because you can also use the envenom ability if the cooldowns on your other abilities are still running down. Assasination rogues are more of a leveling spec, but are also very decent in PvP. They’re one of the better dps classes for rogues.Make sure to keep two daggers equipped, preferrably two slower daggers, for your mutilate ability.

Combat is next up, and is probably the best leveling spec for rogues. In my opinion, the combat spec basically turns rogues into a “soft” warrior. In this, I mean that they can take on mobs, and what not, but they’re going to die a lot easier. The plus side is that they’re going to do much more damage than a warrior. So it really all works out. A few combat abilities basically make taking on multiple mobs at a time extremely easy. With moves like fury and adrenaline rush, it becomes extremely easy to go into a rage, dealing damage to all nearby enemies at a massive rate because you have an awesome flow of energy. As far as PvP goes, combat is pretty much useless. Combat is definitely more of a leveling/raiding skill. It does okay for raids because you’re going to be able to take multiple mobs more easily. I recommend using either swords or maces for combat, with the slowest weapon being in your off-hand to gain more energy.

Subtlety is the final spec, and this is by far the most common rogue spec. Most rogues spec in subtlety because it’s known as the best pvp spec, and it definitely is for a few reasons. For one, subtlety rogues are extremely hard to detect, and they’re much better at detecting other stealthed units nearby than other classes in the game. They also have a few really great abilities that makes them much better while in the arena. For one, sub rogues are able to spec in ambush. They can spec so that their damage from behind as well as their crit chance is dramatically increase. Ambush will become their main move, essentially, and they’re going to hit for huge numbers with it. If you spec in this way, I recommend keeping your attack power up as well, and to spec primarily in backstab and ambush. Always have a dagger in your mainhand, your off-hand isn’t that important. Hemmorhage spec is quite popular too. If you want to make hemmorhage your main ability to spam, I recommend having an extremely slow weapon in your mainhand, and the offhand isn’t that important. I recommend getting a mace or a really slow sword for your main hand, to increase the damage of the hemmorhage ability.

In the end, all of the rogue classes definitely have advantages and disadvantages. You’re going to see more sub rogues than any other rogue spec, since most rogues are out there for the PvP, and subtlety is definitely the best PvP spec.

A History of Super Hero RPGs

A History of Super Hero RPGs, with Recommendation

Fans of superhero role-playing games might remember the Marvel Role-Playing Game, which came out in the mid-eighties. Marvel RPG was the granddaddy of the genre for me, although some of the earlier systems might pre-date it. Marvel had a d100 dice system, with a colorful chart on the back of each book for resolving conflicts within the game. It came with cool bits and maps and was easy to play. Around that time, the DC Super-Hero RPG came out. The DC system was math heavy and had a steep learning curve to master. However, in small pieces it worked well. Besides, just being able to play a game as Batman made up for any flaws.

There were many lesser known games out there way back when. Heroes System RPG was a highly complicated game that was too hard to play. I think Iron Crown Enterprises released it. GURPS Supers was another release; unfortunately I only played it once.

For the past decade or less, superhero role-playing games have been in a kind of limbo, as superhero game developers have started to rely on unconventional (or dice-less) rules for their games. Marvel Heroes had both a card game, as well as a diceless game which utilized prediction and power management instead of dice. The rocketing popularity or collectible card games also caused a drought of good pen and paper games. One could argue that card games had weakened RPGs until Wizards of the Coast, having bought TSR, released the Dungeons and Dragons 3rd edition. D D3E;, as it was called, had a slick “d20” rules system that was easy and efficient. The new Dungeons and Dragons seemed to be influenced by the computerized role playing games, which had been gaining popularity, with its emphasis on modifiers and modular bonuses.

The new D20 rules system that Wizards of the Coast created was released as open source, meaning that other companies could use the basics of the rules for their own games or expansions. This has had a strong effect on pen and paper RPGs into the present day.

If you’re disappointed with the current state of Super Hero RPGs, or are just looking for something new, then Mutants and Masterminds is a fresh take on the genre. Mutants and Masterminds is a pen and paper role playing game where the players are heroes or villains with super-powers. It is published by Green Ronin.

Although the game came out in 2002, I only found out about it recently. Although I may not have played Mutants and Masterminds yet, I’ve seen most of the super-hero games out there, and it’s good to see a super hero RPG that uses dice again. Mutants and Masterminds uses the Open Gaming License, which is the basis of the D20 system. This means that if you’ve already played a D20 game, you more or less know how to play this one.

Making characters for the game is easy, and Green Ronin has trimmed the fat off the D20 system. This means that you spend more time choosing your powers and abilities, instead of looking through the book to see how this feat works with this class and level, etc.

I only have the first edition, which is nice and thin. Nowadays, I’m lucky if I get to play an RPG at all, so I’ve been shying away from those thick books that take months to read and understand. Since Mutants and Masterminds is so lightweight, you may be lost if this is your first RPG. Make no mistake; there is no “What is a Role-Playing Game” section. Also, the first edition cost a hefty $32.85. That’s a lot of money for a thin book, but between inflation and the full-color pages crammed with art, it’s not too much to pay. Besides, it’s an older game and if you’re lucky, you might find it for half price, like I did.
